CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: Now, you understand what any self-respecting police officer would do at this point?
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: Yes, Chief Inspector. Will you have a doonat?
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: A…”doonat”?
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: That is what I have been saying, yes. A doonat. A Tim Hutton’s doonat. They are very delicious, you know. Have one?
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: NO, you idiot! This is neither the time nor the place!
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: Well, may I have one?
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: Clouseau, do NOT…
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: Certainly, have one!
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: NO!!

CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: …down that donut…
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: …doon nat doonat…
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: ….tonight!
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: …doonat!
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: Right! Now, let’s keep watch on that apartment building, and remember what I told you. “Tonight, do NOT! Do NOT down that donut!”
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: Yes, Chief Inspector. “Doonat, doo NAT! Doo NAT doon nat doonat!
(A pause. The CHIEF INSPECTOR shudders)
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: Clouseau…pass me a “doonat”, would you?
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU: Yes, sir. Very strange. I too am very hungry all of a sudden. (sings to himself) “Doonat, doo NAT. Doo NAT doon nat doonat.” That’s a good idea for a song, you know.
(Another pause. The CHIEF INSPECTOR gives a combination sob and crazy laugh)
CHIEF INSPECTOR DREYFUS: Ahaha!!
