Completing his commitments at the CBC, Jim was then contracted to produce, write and traffic TV commercials for CKX in Brandon. He met with clients and account executives to plan commercial spots, then wrote scripts, and coordinated and supervised the filming and editing.

 

He followed this with a long stint at Manitoba Public Insurance in their advertising department, providing multi-media creative

services/information to a diversified public.

 

Jim produced hundreds of multi-media marketing materials, including web, video, radio, and print ads, as well as computer games. He met with the appropriate departments to obtain information/needs for campaigns and to outline the communication requirements to ensure the campaign was on message and on brand. He executed campaigns, tracked campaign feedback, pitfalls, and effectiveness, prepared reports for management and made suggestions for changes to future campaigns.

 

Jim regularly used his in-depth knowledge of a/v, pop culture, and film technique to enhance message impact and streamline production.

 

He Executive Produced 52 episodes of a Shaw TV series for Manitoba Public Insurance and Produced 25 corporate videos for showing in the U.S. and Europe. Jim’s efforts helped MPI win awards (PACE, Signature, Apex) for their commercials.*
 

He followed technological trends in the industry, helped cost projects, handled RFPs, was Acting Manager occasionally when the Manager was absent or on holiday, and assisted with hiring and training.

 

He continues to experiment with different types of digital formats.
