Inside Jimedia: Our Projects

A THEATRE NEAR YOU PRESENTS:

TOO COMMERCIAL!

What’s the quickest way to make movies?  Just do the trailers!  We collected a bunch of (deliberately) silly trailers and commercials for a web TV comedy show. Watch the result on our A Theatre Near You page!

SHEA CLEE'S PERSONAL GUIDE TO FINDING YOU YOURSELF BY SHEA CLEE

Meet Shea Clee, the "motivacational" speaker, in a zany book of life lessons that may make you think, but we doubt it. Coming in 2018.  In progress.  Read a sample here!

FASTIDIOTS

Glen Guinness and Walter Davis, the world’s clumsiest improvisational musical comedy team, appeared regularly on The J. D. Guinness Show and released an album of

their trademark eccentric, improvised songs and sketches, called ...In A Minute.

GUINNESS’ GRABBINGS

Ebook of our friend J. D. Guinness’ round-up of humourous adult stories in pictures and text, in a variety of styles and presentations.  Buy Guinness' Grabbings at Sellfy.com!

HECK!

Stark graphic novel spoofing modern life and our tendency toward fantasy; capturing hopefully how reality is “actually” a kaleidoscope of present, past, and fantasy. Coming in 2019. In progress. Read a sample here!

Kelowna's Twin Creek Media marketing and advertising agency were already designing an elaborate website for their clients, Titaniumrings.com, when the client asked for a series of blogs aimed at selling titanium wedding rings specifically to their male clientel.

Twin Creek called upon Jim to write the blogs, and he responded with a lively and disarming blend of humour and facts about titanium rings that proved a big hit with the clients and customers.  What's more, the blogs earned Jim repeat business.

THE J. D. GUINNESS SHOW

Designed as an promotional tool for a line of books, these eight-minute audio clips grew into a web radio comedy series.

The premise: Fictitious writer/researcher J. D. Guinness promotes his books by reading aloud stories old and new from the recording studio at Jimedia, for posting on this website. His manager, Jim Williamson, doubles as producer of the radio series and staff artist on the books. The company A Theatre Near You lend support by dropping in to the studio quickly (with a Kelowna taxicab waiting in the alley!) to do "celebrity endorsements", i.e. commercials, sketches, and songs (the basic ATNY team include impersonations of John Cleese, Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson, Groucho Marx, the Beatles, Steve Martin, the Muppets, Woody Allen, Elvis Presley, Peter Sellers, Alan Alda, Jack Nicholson and more).  Also, the band Fastidiots contributes a mix of oddball, ad-libbed songs to the proceedings.

Jim wrote, voiced, and produced this web radio comedy series entirely by himself in his home office using the Garage Band software on his MacBook Pro laptop computer.  "It's been great to be performing again," says Jim, "and this is the perfect medium for my repertoire of voices, something 'old' helping something new."   Listen here!

JDGUINNESS.COM

Before the web radio series there was of course this website, which helped to extend the satiric, "absurdly macho" style of the fictitious traveling journalist and bon vivant Jack Daniel "J. D." Guinness beyond books and into cyberspace.  (The site has since been deleted by mututal agreement, with J. D.'s page absorbed by the Jimedia site for greater efficiency)

The page and its corresponding social media are conducted in-character by       J. D.'s creator, ghost-writer, and manager, Jim Williamson.  "Writing J. D'.s stuff is enormous, exhilarating fun for me; it takes acting to an even more intimate place for me and hopefully for readers. It makes sense to me to keep J. D. up-to-date by giving 'him' a comprehensive social media presence, especially with the surge in electronic books anyway!"

GUINNESS' GALAXY

J. D.'s thoughts on movies, TV, books and music

in this arts review web TV series.  Coming in 2017.
